Building Archaeology Workshop at Historic Deefield

Historic Deerfield will offer a one-day program on the "archaeology" of historic structures on July 16, 2016 at the Deerfield Community Center. The study of historic buildings to pinpoint the initial period of construction as well as later modifications relies on a variety of disciplines and areas of expertise that, when combined, build an accurate case for determining the evolution of a structure. They symposium will introduce methods and materials available to those who work with, or live in, historic buildings, including period documentation, tool marks, paint stratigraphy, dendrochronology, and fastener evolution.
