Exciting Updates from MiFA Victory Theatre, Holyoke

Listed a Preservation Massachusetts Most Endangered Resource in 1999, PM is excited to share Victory Theater’s updates!

In 2009 MIFA acquired the Victory Theatre located at 81-89 Suffolk Street Holyoke, Massachusetts. The Victory, a 1,600 seat Broadway style theatre opened in 1920 and has been derelict since 1979. It will be returned by MIFA to its role as a major live theatre for the City of Holyoke, its surrounding communities and the Connecticut River Valley from Long Island Sound to the Canadian border.

In June, MiFA signed an agreement with IMG Artists, the largest arts and performing arts venue management company in the world, to produce a market analysis and business plan for the Victory.

In July MiFA received a $30,000 grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council Cultural Facilities Fund (MCCCFF) to finance preconstruction architectural and engineering services. This grant must be matched and we hope you will consider making a contribution to help us reach our goal.

In July MiFA was awarded $100,000 in Massachusetts Historic State Rehabilitation Tax Credits, bringing our total to date for this project to $3.9 million.

In August MiFA received $3,500 from the Cultural Investment Portfolio of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, which is a $500 increase from our yearly grant last year.

AND In August thanks to Sen. Mike Knapik and Rep. Aaron Vega, MiFA received a $100,000 grant from the State Legislature through the State Office of Travel and Tourism.
