Jack A. Sobon:
  An architect and author specializing in repair and restoration of
timber frame buildings, Mr. Sobon has extensive experience in restoring and relocating
historic barns.  He has taught traditional timber framing workshops, provided architectural
restoration drawings, and has written three books and numerous articles.  This year
Mr. Sobon will offer technical approaches to structural repairs for those who are looking
to expand their knowledge in this area.


Arron J. Sturgis Mr. Sturgis is the owner of Preservation Timber Framing, Inc.,
specializing in the structural repair of historic timber framed buildings.  He has restored
over 40 buildings, including 19 on the National Register of Historic Places.  He has supported
 several historical societies and  preservation commissions in their work, and is an active
 member of the Traditional Framers Research and Advisory Group. Mr. Sturgis has also
led numerous teaching workshops.


Thomas D. Visser:  Professor Visser, director of the University of Vermont Historic
Preservation Program, will present an illustrated seminar on the history and preservation of
 barns and farm buildings in New England.  With support from the National Endowment for
the Arts, Professor Visser has conducted extensive research on historic farm buildings in
New England.  Working from both archival sources and field surveys, he has documented
thousands of historic farm buildings in the region.  The results of this work are incorporated
in his award winning book,
A Field Guide to New England Barns and Farm Buildings, 
published by the University Press of New England
